WENDY's actions
Family
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and tupperware-like containers in my children's lunches to reduce plastic waste.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Lifestyle
Support a Sharing Economy
I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Food
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, or work.
Pets
Thrifty Pets
I will purchase my pet's water/food dishes, collars or leashes from the thrift store.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Personal Care
Lather Up
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, and conditions with either a bar or refillable option.
Pets
Try a Pet Shampoo Bar
I will replace my pet's shampoo with an eco-friendly shampoo bar.
Family
Provide the Alternatives
I will provide daily plastic free alternatives (straws, water bottles, cuttlery, bar soap, bamboo toothbrushes, etc.) for my family to use.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 2 piece(s) of litter each day.

WENDY CHAVEZ 7/30/2019 9:35 AMWho needs a $200 spa quality face and body scrub when you can mix your used coffee grounds from your morning coffee, add a few drops of sea salt and coconut oil to get a glow and a cellulite reducer???? Being Eco-Conscious and thrifty all in one cool move! -
WENDY CHAVEZ 7/22/2019 3:44 AMWhen your daughter uses coffee grounds from your morning coffee to make her own face scrub, you know the eco challenge is making a difference in your household. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Support a Sharing EconomyWhat are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
WENDY CHAVEZ 7/11/2019 5:12 PMThis challenge has made me more aware of ways I can help the world we live in. My 12 year old daughter and I share this challenge and try to outdo each other. Paper straws are now in our home! Recyclable grocery totes are now in our home and each vehicle. And this week, she suggested we take our own bags for vegetables to the store instead of using theirs. We got daddy involved too! This is a family affair.-
Jessica Wright 7/30/2019 8:23 AMI love a little healthy competition! Especially when it has such a positive impact! I love the "coffee grounds scrub" your daughter used. Brilliant! :-) -
Julie DeSilva 7/15/2019 6:23 AMNice job!
