Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/27/2019 5:07 AMHas anyone used the charcoal soap bars to replace body wash? Comments appreciated. I don't like that most bar soaps leave your skin with a sticky feel. -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/21/2019 4:06 PMSomewhat of a fail today our first day at Scout Camp - they used styrofoam plates and bowls along with plastic ware packs for forks and knives! Tomorrow I will bringing my sport with me!-
Liz Zavodsky (EcoChallenge Staff) 7/21/2019 9:09 PMMaybe not a fail, but an opportunity to make future changes and moments for intention?

Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/19/2019 8:17 AMI listened to part of a podcast yesterday where they were talking about the Plastic Free EcoChallenge. The one lady was describing how she rather sternly (but somewhat nicely) told the waitstaff off for putting straws at her table. It sounds more like she shamed them for doing that, but maybe that is what more people need. We were out to dinner last night and the waitstaff just put a pile of straws on the table without even asking. They should be asking ahead of time if we want one; they ask a billion other questions about our order! -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/17/2019 1:20 PMHad a great time making bags from old T-shirts today with some awesome coworkers! I would like to continue this DIY trend after Plastic Free July is done - maybe once a month to correlate with the monthly health challenges!-
Sarah Leach Smith 7/24/2019 11:55 AMI would love more DIY activities!

Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/15/2019 9:29 AMGoing out to eat and seeing businesses, big and small, working towards a more sustainable environment is very encouraging. I like how many of them post signage about their "Green" efforts and hopefully it will stay with their customers so they will work on being better in their personal lives. -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/13/2019 12:24 PMGoing completely plastic free is impossible. It is very challenging to work on reducing your plastic as much as possible, but with work and persistence, it can be done! Great job to all of my teammates so far - we are awesome! -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/11/2019 6:17 AMYesterday we had the opportunity to make our own toothpaste. It was fun and I'm excited to try mine out - yet I'm not sure about my concoction! I was more excited about getting my very own bamboo toothbrush which I already tested out! I will have to continue getting more of those! -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/10/2019 8:13 AMYesterday we went to Shuckin Shack for dinner and was happy to see some of their sustainability signage. They had a sign by the door and at the table that suggested you "skip the straw." Of course I didn't use one or ask for one, but it must be an automatic thing because the waitress dropped straws on our table without anyone saying they wanted one. They also have someone that collects all their used oyster shells to "recycle" back to the oyster farms. It's a neat process. -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/08/2019 12:31 PMSo, recently I was looking at the difference in stainless steel straws vs. silicone straws. I do use stainless steel straws at home if needed, but most of the time I just drink out of the glass. I see how people like stainless steel straws because they can be used forever, but have you ever drank a milkshake with one??? My lips about froze! I have seen the silicone tips you can get for the metal straws, and now I see how they are useful. Silicone straws look like another good option. I have found a bunch that are compact and come in neat little carrying cases. Maybe my next Eco-friendly purchase will be some silicone straws! -
Bobbi Jo Holmes 7/07/2019 8:34 PMThe majority of my challenges are in the food/shopping category. I would like to try to use shampoo bars and other plastic-less items, but I don't know if I'd like the particular scent. Is there a company that has samples of products like that?-
Kaitlynn Fields 7/11/2019 1:03 PMAlso Lush has a ton of plastic free options and they will always give you a free sample. -
Steve Scholle 7/09/2019 6:56 AMWhole Foods has samples available for products like that you can check out. Good luck!
