Pet Waste
I will spend 10 minutes learning how to compost pet waste at home or research pet waste composting services available in my area.

Travel Smart
If traveling, I will bring my own plastic free items (water bottle, grocery bags, collapsible food containers, utensils, straws, etc.) with me.
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 4 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Community
Share My Actions
I will make my environmental actions visible by posting to my social media networks.

Personal Care
Pearly Whites
I will purchase toothpaste in an aluminum tube or in a glass jar or make my own!
Personal Care
Fresh as a Daisy
I will use deodorant either from a bar or a jar or I will make my own.
Personal Care
Dam the Flow
I will use a menstrual cup and/or cloth pads
Pets
All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or I will make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Create Your Own Action
The Last Straw
I will start a campaign in my town to reduce the use of plastic straws by asking businesses to sign a pledge and commit to giving out plastic straws.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care That Was a Close ShaveWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/19/2019 7:25 AMMy transition to a steel razor has been life changing. The amount of plastic and money I am saving are substantial. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pearly WhitesCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/16/2019 1:32 PMI made the switch to toothpaste tabs and I'm really glad I did. They taste and work great and they come in a glass bottle with refills coming in cardboard. No plastic at all-
Debi Duke 7/19/2019 8:25 AMThanks. I have been looking for something like this. Can you tell me the name of the company? Also, do they have fluoride -- we need that.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Pet WasteBy composting your pet waste, you are turning waste into nutrients to feed the soil. In what other ways can you turn waste into a resource in your life?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/11/2019 7:53 AMBy recycling everything you can. Also shopping second hand is a great way to reduce waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/11/2019 7:40 AMI keep reusable items such as straws, utensils, bags and cups in my car so they are always with me while I'm out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/11/2019 7:38 AMI watched Minimalism and really enjoyed learning about a minimalistic lifestyle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Dam the FlowDisposable tampons and menstrual pads are often quite expensive. What are the economic and personal benefits of this switch for you?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/08/2019 2:48 PMThe reeducation of waste due to my menstrual cup has been substantial. Not to mention the one time $30 purchase lasts you up to ten years, that is a lot of money you are saving on tampons. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Kellianne Ticcony 7/08/2019 2:45 PMMore businesses are starting to advicate for reusable straws. Starbucks offers a ten cent discount if you bring your own reusable cup. I've noticed a larger presence of paper starws in tv shows and movies in recent times as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/08/2019 2:41 PMBy advocating for the benefits of reusable on the environment and educating about how not using reusable items can be a detriment to the environment. Seeing the harm that can beee done to the environment should be enough to convince people to switch. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets All Natural Pet ToysIn what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?
Kellianne Ticcony 7/01/2019 5:32 PMI have a lot of animals and because of this, I have been making all natural toys for my hermit crabs, rabbits, and guinea pigs for years. A lot of these toys can be made without buying anything with harmful plastic packaging. Not only is it better for the environment, but also your wallet. Plus pets love natural toys!
