REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Tammy Presutti 7/31/2019 2:25 PMOur neighbors constantly use plastic cutlery and paper plates & napkins. Their wedding anniversary is right around the corner, so instead of being pushy, I thought a gift would be a way to get them to switch (or at least somewhat) to stop using disposables. 🤞 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Tammy Presutti 7/31/2019 2:18 PMI had purchased rice and beans in plastic bags in the past. No more! I have a stack of brown paper lunch bags that I keep with my grocery & produce bags for the additional bulk items I have added to my pantry. And then into mason (style) jars. No more plastic in my pantry! -
Tammy Presutti 7/31/2019 2:10 PMThis has been an amazing challenge! I thought I was good prior but this really made me focus and think more about things and the lasting impact to the environment. I am so proud to be a member for this challenge, our team ROCKS! ♻ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Try a Pet Shampoo BarIn what ways does your pet make your life happier, more interesting, or more rewarding?
Tammy Presutti 7/30/2019 8:40 AMMy pups bring an infinite amount of love, joy and happiness to our home. Regardless if it has been a lousy of a day there are two faces that are always happy I am theirs. It is my responsibility to give them the best that I possibly can, so I have (and part of the motivation has been this challenge) begun making their food and trying my hand at making doggy shampoo. Only the best for my pups!-
Tammy Presutti 7/31/2019 2:05 PMThe recipe was pretty simple, uncooked oatmeal flour, baking soda & water. It was a little messy to apply but they both smell good; like a couple of cookies! -
joy kotheimer 7/30/2019 12:55 PMWow that’s dedication! I’m sure they love it, and let us know how your recipes go!

Tammy Presutti 7/29/2019 9:07 AMAt the grocery, Sunday, I was grabbing a few items in the produce department & using cloth bags for my items. An employee asked if they were out of plastic bags, nope they weren't. I explained why I use an alternative and suggested they do the same - paper bags. He said he would submit the suggestion to the powers that be, in all honesty I doubt a change will happen but at least I tried. 🤞 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care That Was a Close ShaveWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
Tammy Presutti 7/27/2019 7:04 AMMy showers finally stopped looking like a crime scene, well, most days anyway. It took some getting use to the hang of using an Albatross razor but the shave is closer, love the feel of the razor and not to mention it is cool looking. My husband is even on board with his. The idea of disposable razors can be attractive to some but just the crappy shave you get hopefully will convince some to give them up. I think some razor gifts are in order for a lucky few. -
Tammy Presutti 7/25/2019 9:26 AMI went to get my hair & brows done and my stylist recently relocated; I am thrilled to say the new place is a green salon! I love this!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pearly WhitesCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Tammy Presutti 7/23/2019 9:01 AMI thought a great way to spread the word, there are alternative to the "traditional" plastic toothpaste tubes, was to give some out to a few friends yesterday. I have to admit they were a bit skeptical that the tooth powder would work was the main concern. The jury is still out if they will make the switch but at the very least a seed has been planted and I am hoping they will pause before making their next purchase. 🤞-

REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Tammy Presutti 7/22/2019 9:36 AMI was pleased to see our plastic waste isn't to great but clearly there are some changes to be made. I am switching the remainder of my bath products to plastic free containers.
