To all of our Columbus Zoo Staff and Volunteer team members - I can't believe how quickly July has gone! You still have a few hours to log in, check in, check off actions and post your thoughts, so go for it! I have been so impressed with our team's efforts, with your candor in sharing your successes and the actions that didn't go quite as...

Proud of our efforts! Plastic will always be used, but hopefully single use will disappear. It can be done.....

I love how much easier this got throughout the month. Forming some great habits 😊

I find myself feeling very guilty when I find myself with single use plastic or non sustainables; I need to recognize when I can make improvements without being harsh and also commend myself when I do well and try to keep it up.  This was one month of great insight and just a baby step of a long journey in the right direction.

Our neighbors constantly use plastic cutlery and paper plates & napkins.  Their wedding anniversary is right around the corner, so instead of being pushy, I thought a gift would be a way to get them to switch (or at least somewhat) to stop using disposables.  🤞

I had purchased rice and beans in plastic bags in the past.  No more!  I have a stack of brown paper lunch bags that I keep with my grocery & produce bags for the additional bulk items I have added to my pantry.  And then into mason (style) jars.  No more plastic in my pantry!

This has been an amazing challenge!  I thought I was good prior but this really made me focus and think more about things and the lasting impact to the environment.   I am so proud to be a member for this challenge, our team  ROCKS!  ♻

The Challenge was great for making me rethink my habits and make small changes that hopefully add up to big change!
