Max Lopez 7/29/2019 6:47 AMI add mushrooms to my hamburgers, it makes for a really delicious burger! However, mushrooms are usually packaged in plastic containers. I happily discovered Fred Meyers provides an option to bag your own mushrooms in little brown bags provided right there. Couple that with ground beef from the butcher and buns from the bakery and we enjoyed a great plastic free BBQ on Sunday! -
Max Lopez 7/26/2019 9:48 AMOnly 5 days left to go! How has the challenge been treating everyone?-
Laura Repass 7/26/2019 12:15 PMIt’s been great! I love reading about everyone’s experiences and being more aware of my single-use plastic consumption.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Max Lopez 7/25/2019 7:42 AMit is much easier to prepare breakfast now! I prepare Malt-o-meal in wide mouth mason jars on Sunday for the week. Each morning, I just grab one from the fridge and then microwave at work! Saves a ton of time and there is no-plastic involved at all!-
Elizabeth Love 7/26/2019 10:06 AMI love this idea - but are you just reheating at work? I used to have such a boil over problem in the microwave.

Max Lopez 7/22/2019 6:39 AMday 22 already? This has been an enjoyable ecochallenge. I particularly love the change I made by getting an all-in-one shower dispenser! I'm looking forward to buying in bulk! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Max Lopez 7/18/2019 6:57 AMThe plastic produce bags aren't really needed. I used to put bananas in a bag, why? I don't eat the peal! Looking forward to making more discoveries like this!-
Laura Repass 7/20/2019 8:51 PMI reuse the plastic ones until they tip. I’m interested in purchasing some mesh ones for fruits and veggies. I also challenge myself to buy from farmers’ markets.

Max Lopez 7/08/2019 10:51 AMI got my first batch of cherry tomatoes, from my little 1 foot garden plot, yesterday! about a dozen tiny cherry tomatoes, the bowl has a 3.5inch diameter. yum! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Max Lopez 7/05/2019 4:21 PMI saw a refillable dispenser in the shower of the last hotel I stayed at. I loved it! I have ordered my own and am very excited to try it out. Not only can I purchase larger bottles (since the dispenser is refillable) I will also get a measured amount each time! no more accidently squeezing out 3 times more shampoo or soap then I meant to!
