Pearly Whites
I will purchase toothpaste in an aluminum tube or in a glass jar or make my own!

I will replace my soaps, shampoos, and conditions with either a bar or refillable option.

Just Say No
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl.

Make Your Own
I will try new recipe(s) or food preparation method(s) each day, such as canning, pickling, making yogurt, or baking granola bars or bread.

Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own airplane snacks and eat at local restaurants to avoid take-out containers.

That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Make Your OwnHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Elizabeth Flynn 7/03/2019 12:03 PMOverwhelmed leading up to it, then empowered after! Making vegan sour cream tonight. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Elizabeth Flynn 7/03/2019 12:01 PMIt would be big! I think of how I can reduce my single-use plastic all the time, and convinced my mom yesterday to just buy regular bell peppers rather than the mini ones in the bag. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
-
Erica Dellwo 7/03/2019 12:21 PMSafer for people, too. The broken windows theory is a criminological theory that states that visible signs of crime, anti-social behavior, and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes. Littering is anti-social behavior, so by cleaning it up, you show that that is not acceptable. Good for you!
