Bev Burke 7/30/2019 9:47 PMAt first friends and some family thought what’s the point in doing this when millions aren’t? When I explained how everyone taking part in this has made such a massive difference to the future planet. And more of them are now coming around to our way of thinking 😁-

Bev Burke 7/24/2019 8:07 PMIt’s going well. I am now much more aware of the products I can buy with out plastic. I am thinking much more when I shop. There are plenty of places to buy items with out plastic on the internet. Just wish we had more local shops. -

Bev Burke 7/20/2019 4:22 AMI know this challenge is about reducing any plastic you would normally buy. Thinking before you buy and it’s definitely working I’m pleased to say 😁 yesterday we had a eco meeting at work and as a result we will be saving 4,080 plastic milk bottles from going into land fill each year. We are having glass bottles. I was so happy.-

Bev Burke 7/20/2019 4:09 AMI rarely buy it. I know exactly what has gone into what I am eating when I cook . I always make extra so I can take some to work. I love my own soups so I make a couple at the same time and put them in portion size. So I just take them out of the freezer when I want them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Bev Burke 7/16/2019 8:53 PMI definitely believe it’s the largest shops/stores that want plastic. It keeps things fresh for longer.
It’s ideal for transportation,it’s cheap and if it looks nice more sales for them. 😩 -
Bev Burke 7/14/2019 9:06 PMI am noticing plastic a lot more. I go armed with my eco bags now. If I can’t get plastic free food I simply take off the the plastic and hand it to the checkout. I would prefer no plastic but if enough of us keep doing this maybe they will eventually do something about it???-
Lisa Bello 7/18/2019 4:33 AMI like this idea! I may even approach the manager and ask if the have any unpackaged product available. For example: If they have small trays of peppers wrapped in plastic film, I'll find a manager and ask if they have any of the peppers not wrapped in plastic available? I will feel a bit weird doing this at first, but I think you're right Bev; if enough of us make a point to very openly avoid plastic, maybe the stores will start offering more plastic free options?

Bev Burke 7/07/2019 10:03 PMI would like it to be made easier to opt out of plastic while shopping in the uk but sadly it’s not. Since doing this challenge I have Brought shampoo bars ,beeswax to wrap my sandwich and cloth bags for fruit and vegetables. I will continue to find alternatives to plastic -

Bev Burke 7/07/2019 9:54 PMI recently watched a three part documentary called war on plastic. It was a real eye opener. To see the amount of single use plastic used every day and where it’s being dumped and just what it’s doing to animal and human life and just how bad it’s affecting the sea life. I have definitely made a conscious effort Not to buy single use plastic. Plastic seems to be in everything 😩 -
Bev Burke 7/03/2019 9:59 PMI have been aware for some time of what is happening to our world but did very little about it😩 we did an environmental event at work and as I sorted out the waste I was asked to contribute. That really opened my eyes when I did some research and quite a few of my coworkers especially Nicola. Since then I’ve been trying to change my ways. Because plastic has always been there you don’t seem to notice it but doing this has helped highlight and keep it fresh in your mind.
