The reason I joined the challenge was because I had challenged myself a while back to not use any plastic at all for one week. I quickly found out that was way more difficult then I had realized and gave up. So when I joined I wanted to find out how to do a more realistic challenge.

A long time ago, maybe even 40 years, certainly over 35 years ago my mother and my auntie Tito washed all their plastic bags, I can still see them hanging to dry. They clung to the tiles of our kitchen wall. I’ve restarted that habit about about 5/6 years ago and am  100% of the time in the  habit now. It’s amazing how many times you can reuse a simple little plastic bag that was picked up at a store with some raisins or herbs in it! A little drop of soap, a little water, shake it & rub it side to side, shake the water off,  a couple of hours drying & good as new!

      Edith,

What method do you use to dry your plastic bags?
I'm still trying to figure out an easier system for myself.

My banner is a photo of flotsam, a group sculpture we made last fall with Shout Out Saugerties. We found water bottles in garbage bins and used old plastic food netting, scrubbies, individual fruit packing plastics and corks. Flotsam found a home in the Saugerties Library upstairs in the information room.
