    I keep a grocery bag of single use plastic to tie up into a ball to put in recycling (per city guidelines). I noticed that at the beginning of July, weekly I was putting at least 2 soccer-ball sized bags of single-use plastic into the recycling bin. Now, I've been putting in 1 soccer-ball sized bag.

    Buying used keeps "old" items from ending up in the trash. I feel good about buying used.

    Not directly in my community; however, down in South Padre I did notice that the Hilton hotel I stayed at did not give out single use straws with their beverages, including mixed drinks.

    Well, last day of the official Plastic Free July Challenge...  just went grocery shopping with hubby.  Wins and losses.  Reusable bags, check!  Seems line everything that we needed to purchase was plastic wrapped except for squash, zucchini, and onions.  Sigh.  Looking around at other people's grocery carts is just staggering too.  Everything...

    I'm happy to have completed all my actions and had a pretty successful 2nd PFJ, but a bit sad that the challenge is ending.  I managed to keep the habits from last year so I should be able to do the same this time, plus think about what else I can add going forward.
