Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
This was the first time I participated in an eco-challenge. I wish I had done more but many of the suggested activities were things I was already doing. BTW, I have saved more than 1 plastic container from going to a landfill though you cannot tell by my dashboard. The EcoChallenge enabled me to do additional research as well as learn what others are doing to minimize their environmental footprint. I found it inspiring to read about the creativity and suggestions offered as well as the sense of community within the postings I read. I think many people are concerned about the environment and the health consequences we will be facing if we all don't do our part to reduce waste, conserve resources and modify our lifestyle.
At the end of the month, I am amazed at all the plastic that enters my life when I am least accounting for it. I'm going to continue to remain aware so I can make better choices.
Noticed I have made some family members more eco-conscious! Noticed them skipping the straws when eating out! It's a small step...but every little bit helps!
saw a pack of three cloth bags in Marshalls store, that can be used to bag your fruits and vegies. It has a string to tie a know on the bag, after it is filled up. Say No to grocery store when they as you Paper or Plastic. Say neither, just use your own cloth bags
During the EcoChallenge I realized my goal of installing a Little free library in front of my house where people can pick up and drop off books for free. Not plastics related but still supporting the sharing economy. I realized I was actually more excited about starting this up and watching how the community reacts than I am about buying new books!
I invited local firm participants to my house Saturday for dinner and we discussed the movies we have watched. A number of us had watched the Minimalists and it did make us think more about what we consume. The final lines in the movie included, "Love people. Use things. The opposite never works.” So true.
