No collective effort from private companies to save the environment for future generations. Profit in the short term is more valuable than a legacy.

I keep a spoon stashed in my cubby and use it whenever I make tea, to stir, instead of getting a new spoon everytime. I also use a mug for water instead of plastic cups. Just doing this may catch the attention of some people, which in time may give them the motivation and courage to do the same thing themself.

    Food Shop the Bulk Bins
How has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?

Avoiding packaged foods usually means I am buying fresher foods...answering the promt quesion about why Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk--probably has to do with food safety laws and the fact that a lot of our food is grown in concentrated parts of the country and then is shipped around the country, if we purchased more from local sources we could probably reduce packaging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

On days when I remember to bring my reusable cup with me, everything is groovy and I feel great. On days when I forget and "need" a coffee on the go, I feel guilty! So trying to remember to prioritize giving up plastic over getting that coffee when I dont have my reusable mug. Next on my list? Well, I still need to get this one down. Next on my list is probably buying things in bulk to eliminate those dang containers.
