REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible CupGreat job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?
Ann Prescott 7/29/2019 2:05 PMI have a collection of reusables now. Keep cold things colder, hot ones hotter. They are fun & handy to keep around. Also no sweating cups or bottles making rings on furniture. Still need to work on paper trash can liners. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel ToiletriesWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Ann Prescott 7/29/2019 2:00 PMBuying larger size products is cheaper. Refillable containers are cheaper than travel-sized brand containers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Ann Prescott 7/25/2019 11:16 AMRefillable bottles prevents tossing out empty containers as frequently. Also saves money buying economy sized containers. -
Ann Prescott 7/24/2019 2:56 PMCome on team, let's buckle down for one more week. We all love our ocean and it's many creatures who live there. Let's push just a few more days to see how much we can accomplish together! 😊 -
Ann Prescott 7/14/2019 2:02 PMHi VA Zoo Fans Team! Just a friendly reminder to remember to check in every day so our impact shows on our team page! I'm sure we're doing an awesome job saving our world from plastic trash...we need to let the other teams see it! Go Team! 😉 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Ann Prescott 7/14/2019 1:21 PMOnly noticed an awareness of reusable straws among the very young, most people my age (seniors) don't seem interested....yet 😉 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Ann Prescott 7/12/2019 4:27 PMThe bundling allows the seller to mix over ripe and under ripe produce together. I don't want anyone picking out my fruits & veggies but me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Ann Prescott 7/11/2019 4:03 PMWhen packing for a trip I fill shampoo & body wash in travel size bottles from larger ones. These small containers can go on many trips & take up much less space in my bags. 😉 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Ann Prescott 7/10/2019 5:10 PMHad no reusable utensils with me at the local DQ, used a plastic spoon and felt so much guilt! Guess this challenge is really "sinking in" 🙄 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Natural FibersWhat are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?
Ann Prescott 7/04/2019 1:48 PMI purchased a pair of denim-like shorts, said on the tag they were made from recycled bottles but you'd never know it, very soft & comfy!
