Just Say No
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl.
Personal Care
Pearly Whites
I will purchase toothpaste in an aluminum tube or in a glass jar or make my own!
Family
Thoughtful Toys
I will only buy cloth, wooden or plant-based natural rubber toys. Or make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!

Brusha Brusha Brusha
I will replace my plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush.
Food
Takeout Pro
I will use my own containers when ordering takeout.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Family
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and tupperware-like containers in my children's lunches to reduce plastic waste.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Just Say NoDo some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel ToiletriesWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Gina Phillips 7/01/2019 12:57 PMThis is a practice I have done for years!. Even before it became the "green" thing to do. ha ha -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Takeout ProHow could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?
Gina Phillips 7/01/2019 12:56 PMI rarely go out to eat anymore, but will be more proactive in bringing a few "extra" (glass) containers for leftovers if I go out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Thoughtful ToysDoes your child play differently with natural or repurposed toys than with other toys? If so, how?
Gina Phillips 7/01/2019 12:54 PMThis one will be challenging but I will ask my granddaughter to help me with it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Brusha Brusha BrushaWhat are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?
Gina Phillips 7/01/2019 12:53 PMI didn't know there were bamboo toothbrushes! My dentist always gives away toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. I will encourage him to look at bamboo options. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pearly WhitesCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Gina Phillips 7/01/2019 12:52 PMYears ago I had a dentist that encouraged me to use peroxide and baking soda instead of commercial toothpaste. I don't remember why I stopped, but will start doing it again. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Plastic Free Lunch BoxesMost of us know that the "3 R's" are reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is most heavily emphasized in modern Western culture. How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Gina Phillips 7/01/2019 12:50 PMI have made it a goal to stop using plastic as much as possible. We store leftovers in glass containers. It actually makes it easier to reuse leftovers.
