Rebecca Nuske 7/31/2019 8:45 AMCongrats team ZNE! We have done so well this year! I've been trying to focus on the harder things this year, like really thinking about packaging at the grocery store. Next year (or even at some point this year) maybe I'll try to lobby some grocery chains to let them know we want nothing to do with plastic! -
Rebecca Nuske 7/29/2019 7:43 AMI just went on the rePurpose website and calculated my plastic impact. According to their algorithm, I'm using 39% less than the average American! But also 300% more than the average person in India :( Really made me think about a) how much the average person uses, and b) how I can try to be better! I think my next plan is reconsidering my grocery store purchases - especially cherry tomatoes.
Let's all try to finish off those challenges, encourage each other, and drive home our 2nd place! -
Rebecca Nuske 7/28/2019 5:04 PMHas anyone else noticed how much more pleasant it is to eat with metal or bamboo cutlery, as opposed to plastic? Theres something about plastic that just feels not as good 😅 -
Rebecca Nuske 7/28/2019 3:21 PM2nd place! Let's keep it up everyone so they don't overtake us in the home stretch :D -
Rebecca Nuske 7/27/2019 7:48 PMWent to Sunset Sips tonight, and was able to reuse my cup every time I wanted a drink, so at least I saved a few! -
Rebecca Nuske 7/27/2019 7:20 AMWelcome to the new recruits! Let's go team ZNE! -
Rebecca Nuske 7/26/2019 7:37 AMThis month has made me wonder what the world would look like if we had never figured out how to make plastic... What do you all think?-
Erica Farrell 7/27/2019 2:43 PMmaybe it would be prettier but my guess it that we would have invented something else equally as bad that we’d be trying to get rid of here too!! Seems like humans need to make big mistakes before we make great progress.

Rebecca Nuske 7/25/2019 1:56 PMJust found my silicone straw! Now I can have two different options to show people when they ask. There is always someone that says they don't like a metal straw, or want to bite things. Plus I can bend it into a straw-pretzel to fit in my bag! -
Rebecca Nuske 7/23/2019 1:03 PMI'm also trying to figure out a way to do crafts with the Zoo School kids that don't use as much plastic. I have one coming up with straws, I might have to see if I can find some paper straws while I'm out tonight! Or since all they will be doing is blowing through them, maybe I could use some scrap paper to roll up and make some of my own. Anyone else have ideas for plastic free crafts? -
Rebecca Nuske 7/23/2019 1:00 PMI've been lazy a few times this month and bought a salad in a plastic container. Once I get it home though I wash it, and now have 2 new salad to go boxes to use!
