Heather Marohl 7/09/2019 3:28 PMSo I was going to grab a take-out salad from Panera but then I remembered that they switched the all plastic take out containers so I went home and made lunch instead. So a win for not using excess plastic and for my wallet. 😆 -
Heather Marohl 7/06/2019 1:53 PMWent grocery shopping today. We are a bit tight on our budget this month so had to go to Walmart. And even though I bring my own bags and produce bags and aim to buy things in paper/cardboard there is just so much in plastic. All the cheese, meat, breads, and so forth. Our community also doesn’t have certain places that wrap in paper like bakeries and butchers so it’s hard and frustrating to keep your plastic down. I’m at the point of dreading going to the store because of it. Though I did switch cat litter brands to one that packages in cardboard vs plastic. So there is one thing.
Home from the store and after cleaning some I’m drinking rum and seltzer (from a glass bottle and can) with a metal straw. Lol-
Ann Prescott 7/08/2019 6:48 PMYou're doing great! If we all start asking our grocers to change from plastic wrappings maybe they'll get the hint! Keep it up!

Heather Marohl 7/05/2019 7:12 AMAt last night’s 4th of July events it was difficult to avoid single use plastic. I managed to only use one plastic water bottle, because I didn’t even think to bring my own. I think that’s 75% of this challenge is to retrain your brain to think of plastic solutions before you are holding problem. At least on the individual level.
Also I spoke to someone who lives further from the beach and they have never heard of the no plastic straw movement, I understand we are using the turtles as a banner but we need to make all parts of the world (especially the US where we use so much more than other places) see it’s everyone’s problem not just beach/water communities.
