REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Fresh as a DaisyDo some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?
Carol Fusco 7/30/2019 7:21 AMAluminum deodorant has been linked to Alzheimer's disease. Build up of aluminum can effect the neurons and cause a breakdown of neural pathways. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable Water BottlesUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?
Carol Fusco 7/30/2019 7:18 AMrefraining from using particular product or buying from a company that has poor practices is one of the best ways to make an impact on a company. Also signing a petition or creating a petition can bring attention to a situation people do not necessarily know about work well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Discover TogetherWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Carol Fusco 7/30/2019 6:41 AMI think the biggest concern I have is the fact that effects seem to be snowballing. I see small changes for good happening in my local area but them you see glaciers melting and the balance of nature so off balance in many areas. I hope we are teaching the new generations ways to cope with the changes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Carol Fusco 7/30/2019 6:38 AMWe had a small group cleaning but other people joined in. It was great to have people take interest when they had other things they were going to do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Sign a PetitionWhat is a plastic-related issue in your state/province?
Carol Fusco 7/03/2019 2:26 PMToday I signed the "Ban-Plastic-Bags in NJ" petition. There was a lot of info, it feels good to make a difference! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Carol Fusco 7/03/2019 2:16 PMMy daughter and I forgot our bags and we had to run out to the car to get them, definitely helps having someone doing the challenge with you! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Carol Fusco 7/01/2019 3:17 PMI run a teen volunteer group and have noticed the group positively point out when someone skips the straw! Several coffee shops in the area have also come up with a "sippy top" for their cold coffee cups instead of the straw. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Carol Fusco 7/01/2019 3:15 PMThe bar soaps last longer and so cost less. My family tends to use less as well , putting too much soap on a washcloth happens a lot - not anymore:) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible CupGreat job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?
Carol Fusco 6/25/2019 2:18 PMI brought in a reusable mug today so I no longer need to use the paper cups that are in the break room.
