Chelsea's actions
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Personal Care
Lather Up
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, and conditions with either a bar or refillable option.
Personal Care
Dam the Flow
I will use a menstrual cup and/or cloth pads
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Personal Care
Pearly Whites
I will purchase toothpaste in an aluminum tube or in a glass jar or make my own!
Food
Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Family
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and tupperware-like containers in my children's lunches to reduce plastic waste.
Food
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Chelsea Dunlap 7/30/2019 12:53 PMMy bar soap is SO much cheaper, just as luxurious, and takes up less space in my shower :) Plus the benefit of buying a locally made soap is an added bonus! -
Chelsea Dunlap 7/29/2019 12:14 PMWe just have 2 days left!!! What has been your biggest challenge so far? And what has been something that you started and now is old habit?! So excited to see the changes everyone adopted this month! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Chelsea Dunlap 7/16/2019 10:38 AMI've found it so helpful to make me a bit more innovative when I don't even have the options of plastic bags or disposable storage as an option at home. I'm now a Grade A hoarder of glass jars which are the easiest reusable out there! -
Chelsea Dunlap 7/03/2019 6:16 AMHow is everybody doing this first week?? Any tips or tricks that you've already implemented to reach your goals? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Pearly WhitesCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Chelsea Dunlap 6/26/2019 6:00 AMPurchasing toothpaste powder in a refillable glass container, or purchasing the bulk components to make our own toothpaste, Not only would this be the plastic free option but would support community businesses selling these products that are also supporting plastic free lifestyles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Chelsea Dunlap 6/26/2019 5:55 AMWith a small child at home, our biggest impact would be reducing single use plastic in snack and lunchtime components. We already use tupperware for loose items rather than plastic bags, but some snacks like granola bars are prepackaged in plastic. Making our own or buying in bulk would reduce our waste by a lot.
