Christine Dumbleton 7/09/2019 5:05 PMIf I go to a restaurant, I often find that a straw (wrapped) is placed on my table without being asked if I want one or not. Does anyone know, if I leave the straw unused and still in it’s wrapper, will they reuse the straw, or do they need to throw it away regardless once it is placed at a table? Maybe the best course of action is to preemptively ask the server not to bring one 🤔.-
Andrea Lewicki 7/10/2019 9:10 AMMy sister's boyfriend used to bartend so we were pretty regular customers. As Erica said, chatting goes a long way. We started ordering our drinks straw free to "save the sea turtles". It only took a few times before he and others caught on and started bringing our drinks straw free and announcing that they too were "saving the sea turtles". -
Erica Farrell 7/09/2019 7:19 PMI’ve personally seen waitresses throw them away after that. I’ve also preemptively asked for no straw at bar restaurants and the bartender will instinctively put straws in the glass and the waitress will throw them in the trash before bringing the drinks to the table. SUPER FRUSTRATING. I think friendly personal conversations with the staff and even managers is the way to go

Christine Dumbleton 7/09/2019 4:59 PMI’ve noticed that most of the trash items I pick up each day are little plastic straw wrappers from juice boxes. Is it even possible to find juice boxes without these wrappers??? -
Christine Dumbleton 7/03/2019 5:36 PMStarting to notice how much I rely on disposable sandwich/snack bags... trying hard to change this!-
Christine Dumbleton 7/09/2019 4:54 PMThanks for the advice! I have purchased some reusable bags and have been loving them! -
Andrea Lewicki 7/09/2019 12:44 PMI bought reusable sandwich and snack bags on Amazon last summer. There are so many options! I ended up buying a couple of sets so I could have one in the dishwasher and still have bags to use. -
Erica Farrell 7/04/2019 6:48 PMAfter last year I put the boxes of ziplocks we had in our basement to see how long we could live without them. They are still down there!!!!!! It can be done!! -
