I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.

Travel Smart
If traveling, I will bring my own plastic free items (water bottle, grocery bags, collapsible food containers, utensils, straws, etc.) with me.

Use Reusables at Work
I will use reusable dishes and silverware when eating at work.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusables at WorkIt is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?
Lorraine Cartier 7/24/2019 5:00 PMAt work, I try my best to use a mug or cup to avoid disposables. I have made comments to my coworkers to encourage them to use reusable water bottles to reduce drinking from plastic water bottles. We have the water dispensers so water is available, just need to get them to switch over. I recently suggested we get a water dispenser in our conference room to promote this and reduce use of plastic water bottles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Lorraine Cartier 7/24/2019 4:54 PMThis was not a difficult challenge for me, as I always have reusable bags in my car. I feel very good carrying the bags into the store knowing the difference I am making. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Lorraine Cartier 7/17/2019 9:08 PMWhenever I go anywhere, I always bring travel cups with me for tea and water. This way I don’t need to purchase water bottles or use disposable coffee cups. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable ContainersHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Lorraine Cartier 7/07/2019 8:45 PMToday I ordered reusable bags for when I purchase produce at the grocery store. This way I won’t be using the produce bags. Can’t wait for them to arrive.

Lorraine Cartier 7/02/2019 4:02 PMI did not use plastic cutlery today. I forgot my silverware at home so I used the silverware that was in the kitchen at work. Feels good to reduce plastic use. :)-
Lisa Bello 7/03/2019 2:26 PMThis is awesome! I love that we have flatware at work. Hopefully your example will encourage others in our facility to do the same. "Little bites", as you say. :-)
