I am part of La Finquita del Buho a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). CSAs are wonderful because you can get all of the veggies that you need every week and just put them into a cooler (no bags needed). Also, the food is grown locally, sustainably, and you get to help with harvesting or other chores on the farm if you want. In fact they ask that each member helps with one or two harvests to help share the work load. La Finquita also raises animals for meat that members can buy and they have eggs, flowers, plant starts for purchase. They ask that members donate paper bags, egg cartons, etc so that everything gets reused as well (no plastic, just paper). There are numerous CSAs in Washington County, but I am most familiar with La Finquita and highly recommend this CSA. Here is their link: http://finquita.com/wordpress/

wow, I just went to the page. I have been part of A CSA in the past and this one blows that one out of the water. I love the idea of being able to help and all the extra events offered. The cost for a full share would be too high for me, but I do see they offer half shares. I might be able to pull that amount off next year. Thank you for sharing!

Someone asked about bamboo toothbrushes. I bought mine at New Seasons. The brand is Senzabamboo by Senzacare. I also bought two of the childrens bamboo touthbrushes for my dogs. I had been using plastic for them. They also needed new toothbrushes so I replaced them with bamboo. I love the toothbrushes, and so do the dogs!

I am retired (Virginia Garcia and Intel) and living on our farm most of the time. Spend a few days a month in town at our house in Aloha. Looking forward to making our already minimal life even more minimal. Nice to have a challenge like this to help reduce waste and step ourselves up to the next level.
