wasn't too hard, I enjoyed packing snacks that I wanted to eat for my Fourth of July trip. it changed my travel experience as it helped reduce time spent on the road looking for food.

What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

having traveled every week in my previous role, I realized the value of refilling travel sized containers. those tiny plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc. are a significant waste of plastic and only have a one time usage. this is an action I plan on keeping in my life because it serves two benefits: I get to continue to use the products that I know and like, and I am not contributing to single use plastic usage.

Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

as a lover of makeup and beauty products, I've noticed how wasteful packaging is. so much packaging goes into wrapping the products when there are sustainable sources of packaging that companies could consider. Sephora has a brand that sells products with biodegradable packaging! this challenge will impact my future purchases and buy refillable products to reduce waste.

    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

people are too worried about what their produce looks like, which is why I think there is so much plastic packaging associated with produce to protect it from scratches/dents/etc. the plastic packaging is not really serving anyone, and really does not serve a purpose. it's easy to go to the grocery store and pick out produce without having to put it in a bag, but not many people think about doing that!

Good point Pranavi - I try not to use extra plastic when selecting produce.  If anyone forgets and takes one of those little plastic bags, they could re-use that bag for another purpose.
