One of my teenage sons asked me to get some snacks when he knew I was going to the grocery store. That meant chips, in a plastic bag and taquitos, which come in a plastic bag. I did not get them 😉. And he didn’t even really notice until the next day when he asked “oh yeah, did you get those snacks?” I said nope and he didn’t even really seem to care.  So maybe if we more often don’t cave to the casual whims of teenage cravings we can reduce our single use plastic consumption just a wee bit. And they won’t even care, lol!

Though I did have to get dog food on that same grocery trip and unfortunately this particular brand comes in a plastic bag. So I emailed Blue Buffalo and requested that they stop using plastic to package their food. They did email me back saying they’d forward my suggestion to their research and development. I hope mine is one of many voices they hear from 😊😊😊!

I guess the  real question is what will they replace it with. Are fans better? They can be recycled but are way more energy intense to produce. There should be a place to buy bulk pet food.

I also sent an email to Coca-Cola asking them to stop using plastic to bottle their beverages? I hope they’re FLOODED with emails.

On the 4th I didn’t have such a good days I went to the grocery for a few extra things and completely forgot about minimizing plastic. I only got a few things but it was unavoidable, there were no plastic free options for what I was getting.

However, I did send an email to Buffalo Blue Wilderness asking them not to package their product in plastic. That was not part of the challenges I signed up for but it is something I do occasionally. I will try to do more of this for this challenge. 😊

There is an error in my comment about reusable straws. It should read: using reusable straws  is too easy to do and everybody should be doing it!!!
