Barbara Trentacosta 7/31/2019 7:05 PMIt truly works: I have become so much more aware of plastic packaging. It is just a bad habit, buying plastic-encased stuff. So often we can skip the plastic! I’m grateful for taking the July Challenge—it has changed my lifestyle! -

Barbara Trentacosta 7/29/2019 6:37 PMDo I get points for not buying anything today—plastic or otherwise?!! -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/28/2019 4:11 PMRevolution Revelation! Those bags I buy coffee beans in? Kind of plastic-coated inside paper bags? They make awesome sandwich bags when traveling—just fold over the top, maybe rubber-band the package, and voila: repurposed, unrecyclable !!! -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/26/2019 1:50 PMI meant Athleta, the store! -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/26/2019 1:49 PMAthletes now carries all-cotton bikini underwear! Thank you! -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/24/2019 4:01 PMI ran outside in socks to catch the newspaper delivery person today. (He backed up his car when he saw me.) I asked him if he could just drop the paper on fine days WITHOUT the plastic bag—yes, I was receiving the paper in plastic every single day, rain or shine. He said ok, he’d revert to a rubber band like the old days. Geesh! -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/21/2019 2:52 PMI put the scare into the deli guy: asked if he could give me a lobster roll without plastic; he said yes; I wandered over to the cold drinks refrigerator while he began constructing the lobster roll; then he stopped, found me, and asked if it was ok that the lobster was stored in a plastic container! I said ok, making him responsible for his storage methods but suggesting he might use glass containers — Just to save the planet. -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/19/2019 4:31 PMAte lunch at a friend’s house—she knows I’m doing the EcoChallenge so she rather sheepishly presented 6 little plastic tubs of delicatessen delectables, assuring me she would re-use the tubs many, many times. At least she’s aware! -
Barbara Trentacosta 7/17/2019 3:16 PMShopped at Farmers’ Markets and still had to dodge plastic bags ( and explain why!) Then got bulk nuts without plastic by nabbing a paper bag in the fresh doughnut section. Close calls!!
