When I took a day trip to Seattle for an event, I packed my lunch in Tupperware and used a canvas bag to carry everything. I shared both my food and new habits with everyone.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Watch a Documentary
Which documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?

Plastic is the worst! it takes about 1000 years to decompose :'( !!! On average, 300 billion bags are used yearly. On the plus side, many states will charge a fee for plastic bags at stores.

Do some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?

She is amazing, she loves to give hugs and sit on your lap (even though she is a big Pitbull), she is the sweetest dog ever!!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care Lather Up
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Destinee Strickland's avatar
    Destinee Strickland 7/05/2019 3:55 PM
Economic: saves money (on both ends) by not having to pay for packaging.
Personal: I can feel established by purchasing an item that helps to eliminate post-consumer waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Personal Care That Was a Close Shave
What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

I just purchased a steel razor from a local, sustainable company that does not use plastic in their packaging. I am excited to try something new (and help keep plastic razors out of landfills).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

I feel so good about making a difference in the community. I got a travel mug/water bottle that I can use to get my daily tea.
My next mission is to eat less takeout to reduce the number of plastic containers I need to throw away.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Skip the Straw
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

I am always telling people to help save the world one straw at a time. Without even noticing it I have been telling friends and family to use stainless steel straws.
