We are on vacation and didn’t have our reusable bags (we nearly always brings bags, on vacation,  busineas trips, wherever we go) - so we hand carried everything.  Our friends wanted us to buy melon precut in plastic containers - nope, no plastic - got whole melons and they were tastier and fresher :-)

It's so so hard to be plastic free -- most things are sold with plastic packaging!  I don't buy and fruit and veggies wrapped in plastic (think Farmers Market and the non-plastic wrapped stuff in the produce section at the grocery store), bring my own takeout containers to food places, reuse produce bags and of course bring tote bags every time I shop to avoid getting plastic bags.

We have been reusing a paper bag for our bakery items -- this morning the counter person remarked "wow, this bag is so soft, feels like fabric".  Since the paper bag is still clean, not food stained and not ripped, we continue to use it.  Once it isn't reusable, we'll put it in the compost.

Ugh, my computer mouse broke and yesterday I bought a new mouse that was in that molded plastic.  I couldn't figure out how to avoid that without taking more time than I had to search for a used one at a thrift shop or something.  Anyone have ideas?  Advocate for no non-recyclable plastic packaging I suppose?!

Luckily both Mother Earth - Kingston and Sunflower - Rhinebeck stores sell bulk stuff, so we have that available locally.

Dropps are a plastic-free alternative for laundry and dishwashing (have been using them for a while and love 'em)!
