Rachel Schroeder 7/22/2019 6:54 AMI joined the challenge because I realized that though I try to be plastic minded (reducing where I can) there is more I can do. I hadn't thought about all the yogurt cups (I reuse them for crafts, but still...), and popsicle wrappers (can be recycled with plastic bags) and ziploc zippers (I reuse ziplocs until falling apart-you can recycle the bag part but not the zipper). Now I buy big jugs of yogurt, but I am going to start making my own again. I now buy compostable sandwich bags from Grove Collaboration, a B Corp Company.-
Jacqui McGrath 7/24/2019 6:08 AMI can relate! I've been making my own yogurt (and more recently kefir) for the same reason as you, though there's an added benefit that I can make it organic (where I live, organic milk is available but no organic yogurt or kefir, strangely). I have a plastic bag collection that looks like it's been through a couple wars. lol Thank you for sharing about the Grove Collaboration bags! I'm planning to get a set of these Zip Top containers to help break my plastic bag habit :-)

Rachel Schroeder 7/21/2019 6:53 AMI am realizing how difficult this can be! Plastic throw aways are everywhere!-
Jacqui McGrath 7/24/2019 6:11 AMYes! I have been travelling for the last few days and have made a 'game' of avoiding single use plastic but it's not easy!! My family spent the day at an 'eco-park' in Mexico (Xcaret) and we couldn't find refill stations for our water bottles. I 'sneaked' into the restaurant to re-fill ours at their soda station a couple times. It felt like a justified mission, thankfully none of the waiters gave me a hard time. lol
