I've been inspired by the SW BYOBag committee to make many changes already. One of the ones I've come up with myself is how to handle freezing foods. I used to buy plastic freezer bags every year. I would reuse these, but I seemed to buy quite a few. I do have some old plastic containers that can also be used to freeze foods, and I've used them. But then I looked around my kitchen, and since I can't buy some things in bulk, I actually have a number of containers. Sorbet containers, large yogurt containers, milk cartons, zip lock bags that hold foods. Now I wash these out and use them for freezing foods. They can be reused. I also bought some glass Ball jars (12 oz, straight sided) for freezing tomato sauce, peaches, berries, etc. My garden is producing fabulously, and my freezer is filling up, but I've avoided buying any plastic bags.
