Liisa's actions
Food
Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Food
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Personal Care
Lather Up
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, and conditions with either a bar or refillable option.
Food
Shop the Bulk Bins
I will purchase dry goods from the bulk section of my grocery store, and use my own containers to do so.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?
Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will host or participate in a beach, highway, river, or other cleanup effort in my community.
Personal Care
Brusha Brusha Brusha
I will replace my plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Personal Care
Fresh as a Daisy
I will use deodorant either from a bar or a jar or I will make my own.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Liisa Kivimäe 7/11/2019 3:49 AMI've already gotten into the habit of always carrying a canvas shopping bag with me, so it's easy not to use the big plastic bags. Also I'm almost not using the small plastic bags anymore, but I still need to work on taking smaller produce bags with me as well to avoid them completely. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Liisa Kivimäe 7/11/2019 3:39 AMI switched to locally produced Diomina shampoo and conditioner bars, which are actually cheaper than the products I was using before, but work just as well. Also I was surprised to find out that I enjoy the process of washing my hair with bars much more than with liquid products, it feels more natural. The refillable tins are super convenient for travelling! I still have some liquid hand soap and shower gel left, but after they finish I will continue to buy only bar options as well!
