REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel SmartHow can/did you prepare to be successful in this action? Did you engage in conversation with anyone about your new habit?
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 7/17/2019 10:19 PMI went through all of my packing supplies and where ever I found single-use plastic, I figured out a way to replace it with something more environmentally friendly! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/30/2019 7:16 PMGrowing a garden gets me outside to enjoy the pleasure of breathing clean air, feeling the breeze, and residing in the shade of beautiful trees. I can take time to step away from everything else life flings my way, and just pull some weeds or harvest some veggies. It's simple and peaceful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/30/2019 7:12 PMYou can't pick up litter from for porch step. You have to get up, move around, and walk around the block. This allows you to take some time to wave to neighbors, notice interesting and unique things you've never seen before, and be present to the moment. If we all did this once a week even, we would feel like a community, not just a community resident. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Write Letters or EmailsHow might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems - like plastic pollution - differently?
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/30/2019 7:08 PMClearly, plastic has been an issue for quite some time and will continue to cause problems in the future if we only attack plastic pollution problems the ways we have been. However, by thinking outside the box (or rather outside the bottle) we can find solutions that will work in a different kind of way which might be more effective than traditional methods. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/30/2019 7:04 PMSocial media allows for the rapid spread of information including photos, text, links, and videos. By finding, creating, or posting quality content that aligns with your morals, you can help a broader audience see that content as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Sign a PetitionWhat is a plastic-related issue in your state/province?
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/30/2019 6:59 PMI don't know if Washington has a tax on plastic bags at grocery store checkouts, but if we don't, I know other states do, so it would be great to encourage our legislators to implement the same type of tax here. -
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/28/2019 9:45 PMI would most likely need a degree in Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering. -
Gabriel Kennedy-Gibbens 6/28/2019 9:43 PMI'm a high school student and I think I want to go into urban forestry management, so I would basically be redesigning and then planting green spaces that were logged/destroyed by companies and developers.
