How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

I've been in the habit of bringing my reusable bags to the grocery store. However, some of my produce bags can be a little too small for things like large kale so I occasionally to use the plastic ones. But working on it :)

Here is another petition to sign. Very powerful fact on the front page to grab your attention.
On average people could be ingesting around 5 grams of plastic every week, which is the equivalent weight of a credit card.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

I'm glad this challenge is about reducing and not about buying things without packaging altogether. Some items you just can't buy without packaging. I have noticed that it does take more work at home when you buy some products that have minimal packaging because that generally means less prep work has been done for you.

This has been harder to start than I anticipated. We did a lot of cleaning this weekend and put together an emergency kit so I feel it wasn't a 'normal' week of trash/recycling.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusables at Work
It is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?

I can lead by example by using my reusable dishes and containers in more places, especially in public. This will help this become the norm and hopefully remind others to do the same as well as shift how companies think and accommodate people that bring their own reusable items.

I think my daily challenges will be easier to accomplish on weekdays vs weekends. Also, I wish for the 'Sign a Petition' challenge, they had links to petitions.
