What are some of the cases you could make to an employer for why switching to durable dishes and utensils is actually in their best interest as well?

I am a teacher, and am pretty good at modeling and encouraging coworkers and students on a daily basis. I sponsor the Earth Club at my high school, and the students are on a mission to convince the district to go back to reusable hard plastic trays and metal utensils. The district switched to styro-foam trays and plastic utensils many years back, due to cost. My students are looking into costs and schools in the state that are currently using re-useable trays and silverware and we will go before the school board in the fall. Need to get community members on board, as well. Wish us luck, and share any suggestions and/or experience you may have, if your district chooses to re-use!

Awesome so far! I have not purchased a single item of single-use plastic this month, and have had to make a couple of "hard" choices. Not hard for me, but for my kids. With Josh's help at Eco Challenge, I am just today getting into my account to earn some points. I will kick-ass from this point forward. Actually have been kicking ass all along, but unable to document it and rack up any points. Look out, world!
