The change for me was quite easy. I had reusable bags but never made it a priority to have them with me when I go to the market. Now I keep them in my vehicle, so whenever I stop at the store, there is no excuse not to use them.

An advantage I have found to shopping at the butcher and using my own containers is the quality of the food. Until I began buying ham and cheeses at the deli counter, I didn't realize how flavorless pre packaged meats and cheeses were. The better flavors of the products from the deli counter is enough for me to never go back to pre packaged items again.

Catie, I have taking my own containers into the Dillons West store, and they have been supportive of me using my own containers.

Pat, which store have you been bringing your own containers too?  Have they been supportive of you bringing your own containers?

As the owner of two dogs, I did some research on pet waste bags. It is worth investigating if you want an eco-friendly bag for cleaning up after your pets! Many of the so-called "earth-friendly" waste bags are not as friendly as they claim to be. There are several good choices available that can be composted and even flushed down the toilet where local regulations permit.

One thing this challenge has made me aware of is the number of single-use syringes I use each year at work.  I have begun to use more reusable graduated cylinders and reusable glass syringes for my needs.
