Douetta's actions
Lifestyle
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Lifestyle
Homemade Cleaners
I will make my own cleaning products at home.
Food
Make Your Own
I will try new recipe(s) or food preparation method(s) each day, such as canning, pickling, making yogurt, or baking granola bars or bread.
Family
Provide the Alternatives
I will provide daily plastic free alternatives (straws, water bottles, cuttlery, bar soap, bamboo toothbrushes, etc.) for my family to use.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 2 piece(s) of litter each day.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Douetta Davis 7/08/2019 8:13 AMMy biggest waste area is distilled water for my CPAP. Yes, I save the bottles and drive them 15 miles to recycle. Too bad that there is no recycling offered by my rural trash carrier, but there should be a better way to acquire all this water that I need daily. -
Douetta Davis 7/08/2019 7:47 AMI haven't been at home since this challenge started but, I sent the waiters back with the straws at all the restaurants. The nice thing about Duluth is that any carryout food is placed in recyclable containers. We also have no problem sharing one container. I did carry my water bottle saving on cups.
