Provide the Alternatives
I will provide daily plastic free alternatives (straws, water bottles, cuttlery, bar soap, bamboo toothbrushes, etc.) for my family to use.

That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
June Cruz 7/31/2019 12:29 PMI shared my participation in the challenge on Instagram, I like to post to my community about things happening in fashion, art and things I may try myself so it doesn't seem like the switches or things being done to help the environment are hard to do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
June Cruz 7/18/2019 3:16 PMI watched Ice on Fire, and it was hard to sit through, I watched it in 2 segments. The amount of damage that's been done in such a short period of time is frightening. But I'm glad these documentary exist, because we need to know what's happening in order to make changes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care That Was a Close ShaveWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
June Cruz 7/18/2019 3:10 PMI think there was no need for disposable razors, so glad I invested in a steel razor for long term use. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
June Cruz 7/12/2019 11:19 AMWe have made a lot of changes over the past two years as a family, so I was surprised to see that we still have a high cleaning and home goods plastic consumption. I recently made a few changes to our routine and I'm hoping to eliminate more plastics in the year to come. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
June Cruz 7/10/2019 2:16 PMI have committed to volunteer for the COASTSWEEPS beach clean up which happens September -November. Sign ups are in August, but last year they hosted 97 clean up sites, so I'm certain I will find one or two in my area or close by to volunteer. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
June Cruz 7/04/2019 5:27 AMI've completed half the challenge but will buy refillable shampoos etc. the next shopping trip. I replaced all of our hand soap and body wash with bar soap. I don't mind it and it's easier for the kids to use to wash their hands, so this could easily become a longterm option
