    Well thank you.
Today I brought my own cup to Doddington Hall for coffee,
and used my own water bottle for dance class.
Our Abel & Cole order arrived today with a vegetable box packed with loose organic vegetables.

    It is good. Thank you.
I am learning a lot about my habits.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Water Bottles
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?

I can advocate for the people who have been harmed by the bottling process by not buying bottled water and encouraging others not to either.
If it is seen as unsociable as smoking to buy bottled water people will stop.
if people stop buying bottled water the practice will stop.
Support Green Peace and other organisations who can fight the corporations who bottle water.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Start Composting
Do an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?

We do have a compost that is readily available:
first a small container in our kitchen,
then a bin bag for collection outside in the garden,
and then taken down to the compost at either one of our allotments.
It is hard to measure how much is saved but it is everything that we are aware
that either us or our dogs have not eaten.
We only put cooked food stuff in our bin bag and do not compost it.
For example left over cooked onions and garlic which we can not feed to our dogs.

Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

Bringing my own cup is a wonderful opener to question the use of single plastic take away cups by the cafe.
I sometimes have been given a free cup of coffee for bringing in my own cup.
I tell as many people as possible to bring in there own cups.

Using less paper napkins when eating out.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

    Fionna Buck's avatar
    Fionna Buck 7/02/2019 6:49 AM
Often an unnecessary use of plastic. The loose produce unfortunately often costs more than the prepackaged.
The use of black plastic is being phased out, which is good.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

Provides habitat and shelter for animals , birds and insects as well as providing a carbon sink for CO2, health benefits, and local food with a lower carbon footprint.
