  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Start Composting
Do an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?

As a vegetarian, a LOT of my trash is stuff that can be composted. Since I’m attempting to grow some of my own food in our little garden, it just makes sense that I make my own compost. I won’t have to buy it (it’s sold in plastic bags) and I’ll save room in my own trash bag to put only the things that really need to go to the landfill. Win!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family Swap the Snacks
How does swapping out prepackaged snacks for fresh fruit or veggies benefit your family?

Most prepackaged snacks are junk food, so swapping them for fresh fruits is an eco friendly and healthier option. I’m still struggling a bit with the fact that a lot of fruits my kids eat come in plastic containers. I am successfully growing my own strawberries, though!

I can’t figure out how to reply to just you, Alison, so I guess I just do a new post??? It was the one on Sandy Ridge Road. It’s a lot closer than I realized and conveniently located near Triad Park if I have to bribe the kids to go...

Went to the farmer's market this weekend to prepare... Was disappointed to find that when I bought a pint of blueberries (in a paper container), they dumped the contents into a plastic bag and kept the container. Next time, I'm bringing my own Tupperware! Live and learn.

Boo... good to know. I will bring my own too! Which market did you go to?
