Sandy B 7/13/2019 7:56 PMI had a good time talking with a friend today about all the challenges of reducing plastic waste and how we could do much more to decrease it. It is a big challenge as we really have gotten use to all the conveniences of plastic and how its such a big part of our lives and in so many products we purchase, even clothing! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Discover TogetherWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Sandy B 7/12/2019 8:17 PMWe are not thinking of the long term consequences of our actions that pollute. It seems like a minor impact individually but we have to remember the world population is so large now and most of us have a huge carbon footprint. We need to take responsibility to ensure that the climate is not irreparably damaged and that pollution is stopped. We are so wasteful and we need to change and also we need to demand that our elected representatives hold industries and companies accountable.

Sandy B 7/11/2019 8:35 PMThis has been a much tougher challenge than I originally thought it would be! It is so easy to slip up and use single use plastics that could have been avoided. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Buy Only What I NeedAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Sandy B 7/08/2019 8:04 PMIt is nice not to use shopping as entertainment, and even my 'health and safety' purchases are few and far between. I really reflect on how the purchases will add value to my life and think about their eventual disposal and their environmental cost. -
Sandy B 7/08/2019 7:51 PMI hope everyone's challenges are going well! Any good documentary recommendations about plastic pollution? -
Sandy B 7/06/2019 8:04 PMI realize that most of my daily challenges are about shopping and I am significantly trying to shop less/buy less so I often only shop about once a week or even less. I don't ever do fast food or even coffee shops, preferring to make smoothies, tea, or coffee at home. When I do shop though, it is typically at Costco which is a single use plastic nightmare venue! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Sandy B 7/06/2019 7:52 PMI realize that picking up litter is an easy thing that I can do to make my community more in harmony with nature. It makes me feel like an active participant in keeping our neighbourhoods clean and beautiful and setting a good example to those who might be inclined to litter. -
Sandy B 7/05/2019 8:33 PMWow, it really is eye opening how much plastic is a part of our daily lives. -
Sandy B 7/03/2019 8:24 PMIt was a nice feeling picking up garbage in the schoolyard today, such an easy thing to do! -
Sandy B 7/02/2019 8:56 PMGrocery shopping is definitely a challenge! It did feel good putting most of my veggies on the checkout belt without bags but my romaine lettuce came in its own bag, grrrr!
