I spent the last week at a conference with a strong focus on reducing toxics in our environment.  I encourage everyone to check out the following websites to learn about some great organizations dedicated to reducing our exposure to not only plastics, but other harmful, pervasive chemicals: https://www.sixclasses.org/

The documentary is called "Minimalism". I learned about a practice called "33" it is based on the idea of downsizing or keeping a closet to 33 items including shoes and accesories.

I try to think about what things must be kept apart, then the things that don't, travel in one container.

I can share important information that I come across regarding environmental impacts and ways we can lessen our impact on the natural environment. It has also helped give me new ideas and support. When I put out a post that I made my own toothpaste, several of my friends responded with their efforts to make their own household products like cleaners and lotion. This made me realize there are many people out there making small changes to try and lessen their footprint on the world. It's inspiring to connect and share our efforts.

I wish I could get Chinese takeout in reusable containers :( Although I do take my own to-go box when I eat in! I guess I will just have to eat "for-here"

    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

Different stores have different options. When I shop in the bargain grocery store, some produce choices, like carrots, are only offered in plastic bags. Bargain grocery shoppers may have fewer choices about packaging, since people are limited to the low-cost options available in the store they can afford to shop in. This means the burden for stocking products with less plastic packaging should be carried by the store and the companies in most cases. Not everyone gets the same options.

No more Hot House English Cucumbers - they are always shrink-wrapped in plastic film. Will ask grocery store manager "why"? The other cucumber are not wrapped in plastic.
