Campers today took some time to pick up plastic trash by Snavely! Disappointed that there was SO much trash within ten feet of a trash can, but our group of campers taking the initiative to pick it all up was so sweet!

I have been using reusable canvas shopping bags, using reusable vegetable/fruit bags, using cloth napkins, skipping the stray, stopped using roundup for good (I use a much more ecology friendly natural mixture I make myself. I'll continue these practices.

Peter, you actually were a random prize winner last week and one a reusable cloth produce bag! You can come pick it up at my desk on the 2nd floor of admin in the open cubicle area past the conference rooms. :) Good job!

I am excited to try several new dishes tonight and into next week with my spaghetti squash: Mock Coconut pie, Pumpkin Pie (using pureed squash), lasagna bake, macaroni and cheese substituting the pasta for squash, and buffalo chicken bake. I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Because I want to see if I could do it. It was really easy. I would be glad to join the team next year.

This has been a fantastic challenge! I have so many take away tips for eliminating plastic waste in my life. I look forward to continually challenging myself to remain plastic free and starting some those practices that I could not during the Eco Challenge - composting/gardening, I'm looking at you. I have even managed to inspire others to look at how they use plastic in their lives which is pretty rewarding. Thank you for letting me participate and learn.

I watched a documentary on YouTube called A Plastic Wave. I learned that people tend to believe things are often someone else's problem to fix, such as a man in the video that lives on a literal river of waste in India believes the government should take action to clean up the area. While I do agree that the government needs to take action, as citizens it is also our responsibility to notify the government when something like the plastic crisis needs their attention. I really liked this mural from the video because it speaks about plastic and waste, but can be applied to the way we should look at life in general.

I watched a playlist of SciShow videos. I learned that accidentally ingesting plastic might be harmful to us because some plastic compounds are so similar to hormone compounds and can affect our body systems.
