Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

Since plastic recycling has declined in many places due to the loss of the recycling market, reducing plastic use is more important than ever!

I wish we could create more than one of our own actions in this challenge! There are things that I've learned about as part of this challenge that are not offered (at least not exactly) as an "action."  For example, I am going to set up a water bottle/takeout container/silverware station in each of my family's vehicles, to make it easier to always have those things on hand.

    Lifestyle Natural Fibers
What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

I am getting rid of my fleece jacket and buying a Guppy Friend bag.
Next time my work orders uniforms, I will advocate for natural fiber clothing.

Here are some things I realized about eating at a fast food restaurant, which sometimes becomes a necessity due to life constraints:
    - I always go into the restaurant and order “for here” so I don’t have to get a plastic take out bag even if I’m leaving with the food.
    - people don’t look at you funny if you bring in a reusable water bottle instead of buying a drink
    - skipping the sides often helps you skip single-use plastic, for example a bag of tortilla chips and a plastic cup of salsa or cheese. And it probably makes your meal healthier!

    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

Plastic wrap in some cases helps group items together, but we need to find more sustainable products to serve that purpose. For example, It’s nearly impossible to find organic bananas in my area without a plastic & paper band around the bunch.

Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

We even brought reusable mugs and water bottles on vacation! There were a few times when we got disposables, but we brought as much as possible that could be recycled home with us.
