Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Travel Toiletries
What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

I have actually moved away from shower gel and re-started using bar soaps.  They are much easier to get through TSA, and since most of my trips are at least 9 hours long I have my soap to use to freshen up, without wondering how much is 3 ozs.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Natural Fibers
What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

I am automatically drawn to natural fibers.  I prefer, cotton, linens etc. as opposed to synthetic rayon etc., since the itch.  If I select fabric that does contained synthetics, its usually from a responsible company who is using recycle material to create
    "waterproof" items (Portland rain) etc.

could be doing better, but hard to get some stuff in eco friendly, reusable, or biodegradable packages at times...

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

One interesting dilemma for us is the meal delivery services.  We just started using one a bit a couple of months ago and I'm not sure how this measures up with sustainability practices in mind.  Lots of small portion ingredients in small individual packets seems wasteful

Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? What's next on your list to reduce your waste?

I have always used a teacup at work.  I also use a 40 oz metal water bottle at work.  The reason for the water bottle is dual.  It keeps plastic out of the landfill and also helps me achieve/measure my water intake each day.  This is a benefit others should consider while saving this planet for each other.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Personal Care Pretty oh so Pretty
How can you advocate for the importance of reducing packaging to the rest of your friends, family and larger community?

Show them the packaging and explain all the benefits.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusables at Work
It is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?

Keep up on dishes in the break room so that people aren't discouraged to use plates/silverware by the dirty dishes piling up.
