I learned to make jam from plums picked off my sister’s tree. It seemed a little overwhelming at first, but I enjoyed the process and especially making it from 2 simple ingredients, to which I added a little spice to enhance the flavor and make it uniquely mine. Fun and satisfying. 😊

I feel better about what I use on my body everyday and it helps me repurpose old Ziploc containers as well. If you buy a shampoo bar it lasts the same amount of time, if not longer than bottled shampoo, which is so easy to go overboard with.

I joined to support a friend and to learn more about what I can do to help take care of this planet in the realm of plastic consumption.  The actions I chose are those from which I believe I can glean the most and are relevant to my personal lifestyle, with the best chance of success at making an impact from my wee little corner of the earth.

Pro:  Refreshed my view of use of plastics and overall resource consumption habits. Con:  Front for an NPO, even though a good one, leaving me with a sense that I could buy an indulgence to lighten my ecological impact. Lack of scientific references and further information.

I think the plastic packaging is intended for the consumers -- not to protect us, but to give us the impression of being protected. Food has bacteria and germs, even when it's packaged it in plastic. The best way to combat the bugs is to wash produce before consuming it. Truly, the plastic isn't serving anyone.

the producer, prevents consumers from touching everything causing bruising so that they lose product, also easier for them to display.

In the past I always bought cat toys made mostly with plastic. Why? It turns out they prefer things like old playing cards, a shoebox with the top removed, glass marbles, and pencils. The old deck of Uno cards are a big hit -- they haven't touched the store bought toys since.
