After being challenged by Corryn Willey, I achieved 392 points for the Kansas City Zoo.

I chose to watch "A Plastic Wave".  Like other documentaries, it focused on single-use plastics and the impact on our environment.  It was heartbreaking and eye-opening to see the effects on marine life.  30 million tons of plastic and counting reaching our world's oceans.  The film and this challenge has definitely made me more mindful.

For those of you who are tea lovers I recently discovered a company called Arbor Teas. They sell fair trade, loose leaf tea and they have so many flavors. The tea is delicious, but the best part is that the packaging the tea comes in is backyard compostable! They also ship with recyclable materials.

I stumbled upon a company called the Zero Waste Cartel. They have a lot of neat products that are zero waste. They even have reef safe sunscreen. :)

My eco friendly Myro deoderant came in the other day. The outer case is reusable and the inserts are recyclable once you've used up the deoderant. So far I like it!

I keep reusable items in my car so they’re easy to access.

What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

Less likelihood of spilling, easier to carry on a plane, not as temperature sensitive, lasts a lot longer.

I think I will continue this trend

Three words. Plastic free(ish) milk. I switched from buying milk in a plastic container to Shatto in a glass jar. The lids are still plastic so it's not 100% plastic free. A step in the right direction!

18 days in for this month's challenge. I've found that I am more conscious of plastic and where it's used (everywhere). One thing I have started doing, is reusing plastic whenever I can. It doesn't eliminate it completely, but it does give it a second life than just to a landfill or being recycled into plastic bags. I generally buy products in glass when I can, but our society has become so reliant on plastic, it's difficult to get away from.

It does make me think harder about buying a product in plastic...Do I really need it?

BTW, I just about fell over when I got a package from Amazon and the filler in the padded envelope was NOT plastic. Sadly the next one was.

I have reduced my waste by half, take re-usable bags to the grocery store, and bought re-usable shopping bags as gifts for several friends.
