July 31 at 3:14 PMThe secret to winning - looking at my teammates here - is checking in as much as possible!!! Last day guys :)

July 29 at 5:49 PMThe use of plastic is ubiquitous. Driving from the coast to Portland yesterday, on a scenic backroad, there was field after field with large hay bales wrapped in white plastic. What's the alternative?

July 22 at 5:16 PMThere is so much plastic in food packaging — it's very frustrating. I especially notice it at places like Costco, where they seem to go out of their way to ADD packaging. The amount of packaging does influence what I choose to buy, although it's difficult when there are not multiple options for an item you need — in that case, I am just left...

July 22 at 5:12 PMTaking my own reusable items on vacation was a mixed bag. I took two metal straws but only came home with one, so I'm not sure I can count that as a win. I was able to start a conversation about the straws, but it was by sharing them that I lost one. I did also take reusable snack bags, which came in handy on the way to and from my destination....

July 8 at 8:30 AMThere are a variety of products that contain PS and PVC in my house. I was sad to find polystyrene egg cartons on a visit to Arizona. It was also surprising to find styrofoam type plates and cups being used.

July 3 at 7:26 AMIt's been a long time since using a deodorant w/ Aluminum but have had trouble finding a non-plastic option. The links and DIY options provided were great! Will be trying out the baking soda and essential oils... Sorry not sorry office! :)

July 1 at 12:48 PMI selected the traveling challenge because I am packing today, and it's a great reminder to bring reusables with me! I often bring a reusable bag and water bottle when traveling, but I have not yet remembered to bring my metal straws. This is a good exercise in thinking about what other reusable items I can make use of while traveling (and in...
