July 31 at 12:36 PMThis challenge has definitely brought awareness to what we do on a day to day basis. I reuse plastic containers, plastic utensils, use non plastic drink cups and on my weekly grocery shopping trip today, I made sure to only purchase what I needed which yielded a total of just less than $20.

July 31 at 11:30 AMI joined the challenge after reading the book Garbology by Edward Hume. He discussed how our oceans are heavily polluted by garbage, especially plastic. I wanted to do something after reading that book that made me feel like I was making a difference. Once I saw the Plastic Free Challenge, I knew it would be a great opportunity to track my...

July 31 at 10:53 AMI am so happy to take part in the Plastic Free Challenge! It has got me being more active in avoiding as much plastic (&trash) that I can! I have completely converted to the metal straw that I carry with me, and now my boyfriend does the same thing! I am more deliberate in where I go to lunch so that I can use the GoBox App instead of...

July 31 at 8:35 AMIt felt like one more thing to add to my already list of long things to do, but how could I not? I watched a documentary on the garment industry that has inspired better choices that will stay with me for a lifetime.

July 29 at 5:44 PMI think to have places stop offering disposable utensils. A lot of places will just throw it in the bag, when in reality you shouldn't get a disposable utensil unless you specifically ask for it. I think to be an advocate, you should lead by example.

July 29 at 5:38 PMI think women tend to grow up with disposable razors, so I never really thought about another option because it is so "normal" to have disposable razors. I am not sure if they even really market steel razors to women like they do men. I think it would make a huge impact if women switched to steel razors, as I am sure the average women...

July 29 at 12:39 PMThis past weekend I went on a short trip to the amusement park. I took my sunscreen and tube of toothpaste with me. No Plastic Waste!

July 29 at 12:34 PMWhen I travel for weekend trips, I take my tube of toothpaste with me. I don't bother with the small travel sizes unless I am going on a plane or if I have extremely limited space. Its simple and easy and helpful to the environment, plus you get to go somewhere fun :)
