We are staying at a townhouse here in Whistler, BC where they take zero waste seriously.  There is composting of all organics and soiled packaging. All take out is in containers that can go in the compost. The smoothie we bought today had a lid with a spout - no straw. We reuse the cup and lid for the 5 year old’s water and milk at the...

So many things come only in plastic.  We eat tofu to avoid to much animal protein but that is only in plastic.

No single use plastic here.  But this was some work.  7/18 shopping trip.

Getting my compost pile going again.  I can add tops of carrots, beets, egg shells and avocado skins.  Everything can boost my soil in our grow boxes and around flowers.

They are separated during processing of the...

Here are some things I've tried over the years to limit my single use of plastics. Burritos   My burrito comes wrapped in foil.  It is usually put in a plastic bag, but they know me so well there now that they automatically hand be the burrito without putting it in a bag.  I also buy there salsa, which comes in a little plastic tub.  I use the...

Not a lot of challenges complete since I don't shop everyday.
  • July 17 at 3:22 PM
I've had a few days where I didn't complete any shopping or goals of avoiding single use plastic in a meal:  frozen berries in plastic for shakes, broccoli in a plastic microwave bag.  I did order some lettuce storers so I can by heads without the plastic,  wash and store.  It's been a challenge to hold all those leaves that I wash, I'm so used...

Brought a fork and spoon from our camping set to work, since work doesn't provide reusables.  Coffee cup, check, waterbottle, check.

As I cleaned the camper today I realized I have the same utensils/plastic cups that we started with.  Our water bottles are in our home frig ready for continued use. In a weeks time of camping I only had two small plastic grocery bags of trash that couldn’t be recycled.  Much better than when I’m home.
