Do some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?

Aluminum deodorant has been linked to Alzheimer's disease.  Build up of aluminum can effect the neurons and cause a breakdown of neural pathways.

    Food Use Reusable Water Bottles
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?

refraining from using particular product or buying from a company that has poor practices is one of the best ways to make an impact on a company.  Also signing a petition or creating a petition can bring attention to a situation people do not necessarily know about work well.

I think the biggest concern I have is the fact that effects seem to be snowballing.  I see small changes for good happening in my local area but them you see glaciers melting and the balance of nature so off balance in many areas.  I hope we are teaching the new generations ways to cope with the changes.

We had a small group cleaning but other people joined in.  It was great to have people take interest when they had other things they were going to do.

I'm bad about checking in every day but when I do I find more ways to participate so it's going okay

Picked up a used plastic straw while walking on the beach.  I would have hoped that by now people would either stop using straws completely or restaurants would switch to cardboard straws.

Agree!!! It's 2019 after all.  If they need a straw go to paper/cardboard ones.  Thanks for picking up  :-)

Yesterday I went out to dinner and I brought my own Togo containers. I use my own bags when shopping. Going plastic free has become much easier this go around

My sister has always been conscious of the environment and has tried to make my family aware too. For years we haven’t been using plastic water bottles. With this challenge, it’s helped me realize my plastic footprint and given me the opportunity to minimize it. I hope I’m making an impact!

What are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?

There are over 7 billion people in the world, most of which brush their teeth with a typical plastic toothbrush. What is overlooked, however, is that most of these people go through several toothbrushes a year, equaling an incredible amount of waste in our oceans and landfills. Bamboo is actually naturally antimicrobial. (The same reason cutting boards are made from bamboo!) This means that theoretically, you won’t have to worry about bacteria growing in your toothbrush. The primary reason for using a bamboo toothbrush is that is a natural material that is biodegradable.

Today I signed the "Ban-Plastic-Bags in NJ" petition.  There was a lot of info, it feels good to make a difference!
