That Was a Close Shave

I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?

Monday Morning Exhibit Guides now use disposable birchwood forks instead of plastic.  This was instituted by our co-Captain of the shift, Mike.

I stopped for a few items at the grocery store, and at checkout, I was asked "paper or plastic?"  I replied "neither."  The checkout person queried, "either?"  "No, I said 'neither' so we can help save a tree or some 'dead dinosaur'."  I hand carried my items out.  She looked either confused or confounded by my remark.

Not everyone in my household is into recycling.  You can catch me "dumpster diving in the kitchen" for that stray yogurt cup!

While on a vacation to Bethany Beach, we dined at an Ocean Friendly Restaurant called The Heideway.  Spelling is correct, I don't know how they came up with that name.  This restaurant is a member of the Surfrider Foundation.  On each table was a card that specified what it takes to be an ocean friendly restaurant.  (1)  No expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam is used.  (2)  Proper recycling practices are followed.  (3)  Only reusable tableware is used for onsite dining, and disposable utensils for takeout food are provided only upon request.  (4)  No plastic bags offered for takeout or to-go orders.  (5)  Straws are provided only upon request.  We'll go back there again.  High marks for menu and service.

It is interesting that you can recycle contact lenses.  I've gone one step beyond that.  By not wearing contact lenses I have zero items to recycle.  I wear standard glasses.  I clean them daily and never have to worry about recycling contact lenses.  Vanity vanity, all is vanity.  If standard glasses are good enough for Clark Kent, they are good enough for me!

Do some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?

Really doesn't apply to this Old Hand!  I've always used Old Spice Stick.  When I did use an aerosol deodorant I found the spray repugnant, so I went back to the Old Spice Stick.

What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

My Dad used Gillette razors.  Single edge injector or two sided blades in a steel razor.  No big challenge for me!  I just followed in my Father's footsteps!
