Angela's actions
Food
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, or work.
Personal Care
Lather Up
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, and conditions with either a bar or refillable option.
Pets
All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or I will make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Lifestyle
Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.
Food
Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own airplane snacks and eat at local restaurants to avoid take-out containers.
Pets
Invest in a Pooper-Scooper
I will swap out my single use plastic bags for a pooper-scooper.
Pets
Thrifty Pets
I will purchase my pet's water/food dishes, collars or leashes from the thrift store.
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Lifestyle
Travel Smart
If traveling, I will bring my own plastic free items (water bottle, grocery bags, collapsible food containers, utensils, straws, etc.) with me.
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 5 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Angela Woods 7/30/2019 9:56 AMWanted to see how we as a team compared to the top place leaders. Even though we are 39th place based on total points per team, we are actually in 9th place if based on average points per team member. Thank you Dr. James for calculating out the top 50 team averages by member. -
Angela Woods 7/30/2019 8:54 AMI have two large kitchen trash cans in my kitchen, one is white for recycling and one is black for trash. You will be amazed at how much of what we use can be recycled and have less impact on our land fills. -
Angela Woods 7/29/2019 5:15 PMOnly a few days left of the challenge but should continue even after July 31st. -
Angela Woods 7/26/2019 8:27 AMPrepared another dinner with food items in compostable or recycled packaging, nothing went to trash. -
